After graduating from Oxford with a Master’s Degree in Physics, Laura joined actuarial consultancy LCP in 2003 and made partner in 2010. During her time there she supported Lloyd’s and London market insurers as well as personal lines and international clients on reviews of reserve adequacy, pricing and capital modelling.
Joining Asta in 2018 she has been involved with oversight of all Asta’s managed syndicates, assessing pipeline opportunities, and leading Asta’s company-wide strategic initiatives as part of the Senior Management Team. She was promoted to Chief Actuary in May 2020.
In her role with Asta as a turnkey managing agent she has focused on supporting syndicates through the challenges of being in start up mode as well as developing the maturity of their actuarial capabilities.
Laura has been involved with a number of working parties over her career and presented at GIRO and other conferences. Most recently she has given her time back through volunteering on the Practicing Certificates panel as well supporting the Pan Re working party.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys turning her hand to the practical – upholstery, millinery and dress making, superseded most recently by lego building with her kids and climbing frame building for them, as well as a bit of climbing herself to keep fit.
“We have a tremendous amount of time for Laura – she is upbeat, helpful and understands our commercial imperatives. She also leads her team extremely well and has raised the standard of expertise and service we receive from the whole team to a new level.”
