I’m a Scheme Actuary in the pensions team at Deloitte. I’m fortunate to have a varied role, which includes advising some of our largest (and smallest) trustee clients, working on the ground-breaking Deloitte Pensions Master Plan proposition, and leading the PPF levy consulting team. I also look after year-end talent reviews for our most senior students, author and maintain our trustee advice templates, and take responsibility for our current issues periodical.
Since I joined in 2014, we’ve grown from 30 trustee clients to 150. We have a tight-knit team of really incredible people, and I’d like to think I’ve played a small part in helping move our business forward.
I’m lucky to have been at the coalface on some terrific assignments. Recently, I advised a trustee on establishing and launching a new mixed benefits scheme for a well-known employer, which has been a great success. I’ve also just finished designing and implementing a strategy to help a corporate client improve the way its UK DB schemes are managed and funded. It’s been genuinely fascinating and some great innovation has made a tangible difference for the company and members.
I spend a lot of time talking to employers and trustees about their pensions objectives. That has led to me introducing lots of new clients to the firm, from smaller privately-owned companies to global businesses. I’m passionate about first-rate client delivery, and that ensures I don’t have too much time on my hands!
I should say that I’m very flattered to have been nominated for the award. There are other colleagues I can think of who
would have deserved the recognition more than me.
Outside of work, I’m a father to a very active toddler, and my other half and I have another child due at the start of 2021. Other than pensions, I like beaches, savoury baked goods, and interesting drinks.
